Sounds of Summer

This year's Sounds of Summer percussion clinic was conducted July 28 and 29 at Clemson University, and if you missed it for 2003, you'll want to be sure to contact us and watch this space for information on the 2004 clinic.

Just to whet your palate for what's on offer in this unique experience, this year saw Guest Clinician Dennis DeLucia lead students through two challenging days of workshops, ensemble rehearsals, and sectional rehearsals, assisted by student percussionists from Clemson University. Dennis is one of the most respected percussion instructors, arrangers, clinicians and judges in the United States. He is best known for his accomplishments with championship drum corps including the Hawthorne Muchachos, Bayonne Bridgemen, Star of Indiana and the Crossmen; senior corps such as the Sunrisers and The Caballeros; and championship bands such as Piscataway (NJ) High School Band. His drumlines have won sixteen championship "High Percussion" titles, including the only Triple Crown (1981) in drum corps history. He appears as an expert analyst on the telecast of D.C.I. finals on PBS and serves on the task force for W.G.I. Indoor Percussion. He is the first percussionist to have been inducted into both the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame and the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame. This caliber of talent is the hallmark of Sounds of Summer, and makes a real impact with any drum line.

Sounds of Summer is a great opportunity to get your drum line in shape for next year's marching season - to help your students gain confidence and improve their technique. Students who attended our Sounds of Summer Percussion Clinics over the past seven years left with renewed enthusiasm and sharper playing skills; many expressed a desire to return again. You won't want to miss it in 2004, so be sure to contact us to request details on next year's event!
